Sgt. James Cardillo, Jr. was listed Missing in Action on November 26, 1950. His body was never recovered.  He was 21 years old.



The Family

Sgt. James Robert Cardillo, Jr. was from Rome, NY.  Sadly, we could not find any family members for Sgt. Cardillo.

More Story

Sgt. Cardillo was a member of Company I, 3rd Battalion, 38th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division.  He was listed as Missing in Action while fighting the Chinese along the Kunu-ri Road deep in North Korea on November 26, 1950.  He was presumed dead on December 31, 1953.  His remains were not recovered.  His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial.

James Robert Cardillo, Jr. was awarded the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the Republic of Korea War Service Medal, the Republic of Korea Unit Citation and the Combat Infantryman Badge.  Sgt.
