US Army LT. Irvin Willis Prosser was from Sauquoit, NY. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Irvin (Margaret Oebler) Prosser. He had two sisters, Terese and Mary Agnes.

Lt. Prosser graduated from Chadwicks High School in 1964 and entered the Army in 1966. He served in Officers Candidate School in Ft. Benning, Georgia and later in Fort Hood, Texas. He was sent to Vietnam in August.

US Army LT Irvin Willis Prosser was a very brave man. He received the Bronze Star for Gallantry in Action while serving with the 198th Brigade. His courage saved many lives as he continually exposed himself to intense hostile fire as he assisted his wounded comrades to a helicopter. After his death his family was presented with the Bronze Star With Oak Leaf Cluster, the Purple Heart, the National Defense Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, the Vietnam Campaign Ribbon and the Expert Badge With Automatic Rifle, Rifle and Pistol Bars. You served with honor and courage Lt. Prosser. Freedom Park will never let you be forgotten.
