
US Army SGT William John Winters
The History
US Army Sgt William John Winters died in Vietnam on May 14, 1969. He was wounded in battle on May 3 and succumbed to those wounds. He was 23 years old.
The Family
Sgt. Winters was from Boonville, NY. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Winters. He had two brothers, Joseph and Kevin and one sister, Sandra.

Sgt. Wood graduated from Boonville Central School and Morrisville A.T.C. He also attended the Indiana Institute of Technology in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

US Army Sgt William John Winters was attached to the 173rd Airborne Brigade. He entered the Army in 1968, He arrived in Vietnam on January 11, 1969. On March 7 he was wounded, he returned to duty on April 27. You were a fighter, Sgt. Winters. Your country is proud of you. Freedom Park will never forget you.
