USMC PFC Bernard Andrew Demski

 

 

The History

USMC PFC Bernard Andrew Demski was captured by the enemy on April 10, 1953 during the Korean War. He died in captivity on June 22, 1953.  His body was not returned.  He was 22 years old.

 

 

The Family

PFC Demski was from Rome, NY.  He was the son of Mrs. Clara Demski.  He had two brothers, Frank and Chester and three sisters, Mrs. Edward Yakobiszyn, Mrs. Edward Pietras and Mrs. Michael Zuk all of Rome.

PFC Bernard Andrew Demski was wounded in an engagement in Korea on April 10, 1953.  He received a shot to the spine and was taken prisoner.  He never recovered from his wounds and according to another prisoner, he died on June 22, 1953.

PFC Bernard Andrew Demski was a member of the 7th Marine Division, E CO 2 BN, 1st Marine Division.  He was awarded the Silver Star.
