USMC PFC John Lawrence Ward

The History

USMC PFC John Lawrence Ward was killed in action on November 6, 1950 in the Korean War.  He was 21 years old and had been in Korea for less than 2 months.

The Family

USMC PFC was born in Utica the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas F. Ward.  The family home was on Eagle Street in Utica.  PFC Ward was the brother to one sister, Elenita and three brothers, William, George and Thomas, all who lived at home with their parents.

PFC Ward graduated from St. Francis de Sales high school in Utica, a member of the class of 1947.  Before he enlisted in the Marines, PFC Ward was employed with the Installation Department of the Western Electric Company in Syracuse.
